Pulpotomy and Pulpectomy Treatment in Sri Lanka

What is a Pulpotomy?

A pulpotomy is a dental procedure used to treat a decayed or damaged tooth in children. In this procedure, the dentist removes the decayed portion of the tooth and the infected pulp tissue in the crown of the tooth. The remaining healthy pulp tissue in the root canal is left in place. The tooth is then filled with a material to protect the remaining pulp tissue and restore the tooth’s function.

How Do You Know If Your Child Needs a Pulpotomy?

The most common sign that your child needs a pulpotomy is toothache, especially when eating or drinking. You may also notice a visible cavity or a discolored tooth. In some cases, there may be no visible symptoms, and the problem may only be detected by a dentist during a routine check-up.

What is a Pulpectomy?

A pulpectomy is a dental procedure used to treat a decayed or damaged tooth in children. This procedure is similar to a root canal treatment in adults. In this procedure, the dentist removes all of the infected pulp tissue from the crown and root of the tooth. The root canals are then filled with a material to protect the remaining healthy tooth structure and prevent further decay.

How Do You Know If Your Child Needs a Pulpectomy?

The symptoms of a pulpectomy are similar to those of a pulpotomy, including toothache, visible cavity, and discolored tooth. Your child may also experience swelling around the affected tooth or a fever.

Procedure for Fluoride Varnish Application

  2. The fluoride varnish is applied to the teeth using a small brush or applicator.
  3. The varnish is left on the teeth for a few hours to allow the fluoride to penetrate the tooth enamel.
  4. The patient is advised to avoid eating or drinking anything for at least 30 minutes after the application.
  5. The varnish is then brushed off the teeth, and the patient can resume their normal activities.

Cost of Pulpotomy and Pulpectomy Treatment in Sri Lanka

The cost of pulpotomy and pulpectomy treatment in Sri Lanka varies depending on the location and severity of the tooth decay.
