At Cayo Dental Hospital, dental treatments are delivered using structured clinical protocols, qualified dental professionals, and certified dental materials.
Certain dental restorations may carry limited warranties related to the materials and laboratory workmanship used in treatment. However, dental treatment outcomes depend on multiple biological and behavioural factors beyond the control of the dentist.
For this reason, dental treatments cannot be considered permanent or guaranteed for life.
This policy explains the scope, duration, and conditions under which warranty support may be available for specific dental restorations provided at Cayo Dental Hospital.
Dental treatments involve both biological and mechanical factors. Even when procedures are performed correctly using high-quality materials, long-term outcomes may be affected by:
• Oral hygiene practices
• Smoking or tobacco use
• Teeth grinding or clenching
• Trauma or accidents
• Systemic medical conditions (e.g., diabetes)
• Natural wear of dental materials
• Changes in bite or jaw structure over time
Because of these factors, warranties apply only to specific dental restorations and materials, and not to overall treatment success.
Cayo Dental Hospital provides a limited warranty of up to ten (10) years for the following restorations placed at the clinic:
• Porcelain Fused to Metal (PFM) Crowns
• Zirconia Crowns
• Metal Crowns
• Dental Bridges (PFM / Zirconia / Metal)
• Dental Implants (implant fixtures and prosthetic restorations)
The warranty applies only to failures directly related to material defects or laboratory manufacturing issues under normal functional use.
Eligible restorations may carry a maximum warranty period of 10 years from the date of final delivery of the restoration.
However, warranty validity depends on continuous compliance with the conditions outlined in this policy.
Failure to comply with these conditions may result in automatic cancellation of the warranty.
To maintain warranty eligibility, patients must comply with the following requirements:
Patients must attend regular dental examinations at least once every 6 months at Cayo Dental Hospital or another registered dental practitioner.
Failure to attend periodic examinations may result in loss of warranty eligibility.
Patients must undergo professional dental cleaning (scaling and polishing) when recommended by the dentist to maintain oral health.
Poor oral hygiene that contributes to restoration failure may void the warranty.
Patients diagnosed with teeth grinding or clenching (bruxism) may be required to use a protective night guard.
Failure to use a recommended night guard may result in cancellation of warranty coverage for crowns, bridges, or implant restorations.
Any problem related to a restoration must be reported promptly to Cayo Dental Hospital.
Delayed reporting of problems may lead to worsening damage, which may invalidate warranty eligibility.
Patients must follow all post-treatment care instructions provided by the dental team.
Failure to follow these instructions may void warranty support.
The warranty will automatically become invalid if any of the following conditions occur:
• Poor oral hygiene leading to gum disease or tooth decay
• Failure to attend recommended dental reviews
• Smoking or tobacco use affecting implant or restoration stability
• Teeth grinding or clenching without protective appliances
• Damage caused by trauma, accidents, or sports injuries
• Chewing hard objects such as ice, bones, or bottle caps
• Development of untreated dental disease around the restoration
• Any modification, adjustment, or repair performed by another dental provider without consultation with Cayo Dental Hospital
Once warranty conditions are violated, the restoration may still be repaired or replaced at the patient’s cost.
Dental implants involve biological integration with the jawbone, which depends on individual patient healing capacity and systemic health.
Implant survival may be affected by:
• Smoking
• Diabetes
• Bone quality and density
• Oral hygiene practices
• Infection or gum disease
For this reason:
• Implant surgical success cannot be guaranteed.
• The implant warranty applies primarily to manufacturing defects of the implant components.
Biological implant failure due to patient-related factors may require additional treatment and fees.
Crowns and bridges are fabricated by professional dental laboratories.
If a restoration fails due to verified laboratory or material defects, the restoration may be repaired or replaced at the discretion of Cayo Dental Hospital within the warranty period.
However, warranty support may not include clinical service fees, diagnostic procedures, or additional treatment required due to unrelated dental conditions.
If a patient believes a restoration has failed within the warranty period:
The patient must attend a clinical evaluation at Cayo Dental Hospital.
The dental team will review the clinical records and perform an examination.
The cause of the problem will be assessed to determine whether it qualifies under warranty conditions.
Warranty decisions will be made based on clinical findings and documented treatment records.
Warranty support may include:
• Repair of the restoration
• Replacement of defective materials or laboratory work
Warranty support does not include:
• Cash refunds
• Compensation payments
• Travel costs
• Treatment unrelated to the restoration
Any replacement treatment will be performed at the discretion of Cayo Dental Hospital.
Dental restorations are medical devices used within the oral environment and are subject to biological and mechanical stresses over time.
Cayo Dental Hospital shall not be held liable for failures caused by patient behaviour, health conditions, or factors beyond the control of the dental team.
Cayo Dental Hospital reserves the right to modify or update this warranty policy when necessary to reflect changes in clinical standards or operational requirements.
